Operations Research and Industrial Engineering assistant professor Ben Leibowicz, whose research interests include energy economics, technological change and energy and climate policy analysis, offered his thoughts on what U.S. cities can do to continue fighting climate change in the wake of the country's recent withdrawal from the Paris climate agreement. His op-ed was published in Fortune on June 13.

"Despite these obstacles, cities can fight climate change effectively if leaders enact regulations that are logical at the city level. The most crucial role that cities should play is to enable and encourage residents to adopt environmentally friendly technologies and behaviors," Leibowicz writes.
